CPRD To Offer Tackle Football

The Commerce Parks and Recreation Department will offer tackle football for ages 7-12. The CPRD will no longer participate in the BJC football conference, instead choosing to play as a part of the North Georgia Youth Football Association, which includes Jefferson, Jackson County, Banks County, Lumpkin, Dawson, Rabun, White, Chestatee, Gilmer, Union, Towns and Fannin counties.

The flag football division for ages 6-8 is being eliminated.

The NGYFA will consist of single age divisions. However, if the CPRD can’t fill single age divisions, it will combine ages 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12 and compete in the 8, 10 and 12 age divisions.

Registration will run May 2 – June 3, Monday through Friday, 1-5 p.m. (1-6 p.m. on Thursdays). The fee for Commerce residents will be $70; $90 for non-residents. The registration fee for cheerleading will be $50 for residents, $70 for non-residents.

Practices begin on July 25, with games beginning on Aug. 20.
