THOUGH it’s still the regular season, Jackson County can already claim one golf title.
The Panthers fired a 163 at Traditions of Braselton Golf Club Tuesday to win the county championship, beating Jefferson (178) by 15 strokes. Commerce shot a 205 and East Jackson posted a 219.
Jackson County freshman York Delloyd continued his stellar season, winning the county individual title with a 37.
One out-of-county school also played in the match. Oglethorpe County shot a 172.
The win is the latest highlight in what’s been a standout year on the golf course for Jackson County. The Panthers have broken their own school record three times and Delloyd set the school scoring record earlier this spring.
Jackson County now has two regular season dates remaining before setting its sights on a bigger prize – qualifying for the state tournament at the April 18 Region 8-AA tournament.
The region tournament will be played on the Panthers’ home course, Traditions of Braselton Golf Club.
The state tournament will be held in early May.
