The inaugural East Jackson Track and Field season came to an end this past weekend, as two Eagles traveled to Jefferson for the boys’ state finals.
Zach Gilbert placed seventh in the triple jump on Thursday, going 43’11” to break his own school record. The event winner, Rashad James of Swainsboro, went 48’.00”.
Meanwhile Brandon Banks cut nine seconds off of his personal record to run a 10:29.73 in the 3200-meters, finishing fifth. The winner, Matt Gossett of Wesleyan, ran a 10:09.550.
“When you (set a personal record) in the region and state meets, then you really can't as a coach ask for much more,” said coach Steve Collins. “We had a great year, and the expectations will go up from here.”
