The East Jackson baseball Eagles picked up their third region win of the season last week with a victory over Oglethorpe County. Unfortunately, the Eagles were also peppered by region losses to Jackson County, Elbert County and Hart County.
That leaves the Eagles 3-11 in the region and 4-12 overall.
The Eagles are looking to gear up for a strong finish to their season this week, starting with a home game against North Oconee on Friday at 5:55 p.m.
East Jackson will play its final home game of the regular season on Monday, as the Eagles host Jefferson, which is 7-8 overall and 6-7 in region play.
The Dragons have had an uncharacteristically cool season this year, going 6-7 in the region and 7-8 overall. They enter the week off an 8-4 loss at the hands of Elbert County.
The teams split the two games played earlier this season. The Eagles won 4-3 on March 12, with Jefferson winning 7-3 on March 25. Monday’s game also begins at 5:55.
Jackson County
The Eagles hosted Jackson County last Tuesday, March 29,
hoping to avenge a 13-3 loss on March 11.
Instead, they got a similar outcome, as the Panthers put together a 12-2 victory over East Jackson, handing the Eagles their fourth straight loss.
Josh Chumley took the loss on the mound.
Oglethorpe County
East Jackson visited Oglethorpe County where East Jackson put together a 14-4 victory, their biggest win margin of the 2011 season.
Elbert County
Up next was a home game Saturday against the region leaders, the Blue Devils of Elbert County.
The Blue Devils showed why they sit atop the 8B-AA standings, as they outscored the Eagles two-to-one, picking up a 19-8 victory in five innings.
Hart County
On Monday, the Eagles played host to Hart County, the number two team in 8B-AA.
The Bulldogs had topped East Jackson 18-1 and 10-0 in their two previous pairings and things didn’t change much this time as the Bulldogs picked up their 12th win of the year with a 20-10 victory.
Stats from the previous three games were unavailable at press time.
