Banks County’s diamond Leopards were skunked last Thursday by Dawson County.
The Tigers defeated the current sub-region number two 8A-AA Leopards moving Banks County’s overall record to 5-4.
This week, rain canceled Monday’s game with Rabun County, 3-4 in the sub-region and 4-6 overall. The rescheduled sub-region game date against the Wildcats had not been announced at press time.
Banks County, 5-2 in the sub-region, was scheduled to head to Fannin County this afternoon (Wednesday). Fannin County, remains undefeated in the sub-region and 8-0-1 overall. Today’s road games was set for 4:30 p.m.
If the forecast holds and Friday’s sky’s are clear of rain, the diamond Leopards will head to Union County for a 5:55 p.m. game. Union is the current number three in the sub-region 4-3, 8-4 overall.
Next week during the school’s spring break the Banks County baseball team keeps hitting the diamond, with a trip to East Hall. Banks will look to repeat last Tuesday’s performance with another big win over the Vikings.
DAWSON COUNTY
Banks County couldn’t get things started and were rolled 10-0 after five innings.
Brenton Ruark took the loss on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings, giving up seven runs off six hits, three earned while walking two and fanning two. Cody Watkins stepped onto the mound to finish out the Leopard’s defensive posture, giving up three earned runs off two hits and walking three before closing.
Out of 18 attempts at the plate, Banks County tallied five hits, but each fizzled as the Leopards were unable to string together anything productive.
Jessy Hudgins, Eli Autry, Ruark, Seth McEntire and Tyler Hellmeister each had one hit.
