BASEBALL: Diamond Doggs continue winning ways

Travis Demeritte was the winning pitcher against Madison County as he worked in relief. Clayton Eames earned the victory Friday while Ryan Brown worked well in relief. Brown recorded seven strikeouts Friday and fanned the final three batters of the game to close the door and seal the win. Demeritte had to work out of some trouble in his pitching appearance against Madison County but settled down and did not allow a run during the last three innings.

In the win against Madison County, Dylan Ivey and Grayson Ivey helped lead the offense along with Demeritte, Christian Hodge, Taylor Keinat and Dalton Carter.

WBHS jumped out to an early 7-0 lead against Cedar Shoals two days later. The Jaguars would get as close as 7-5 but the Bulldoggs scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth and four additional runs in the sixth.

WBHS finished with 11 hits, including Grayson Ivey’s first home run of the season.

Keinat was 3-for-4 with two doubles and RBI, Dylan Ivey was 2-for-2 with a double and four RBI and Meyer was 2-for-3 with a run batted in. Grayson Ivey had three runs driven in despite having only one hit.

Eames, Carter and Hodge each contributed offensively.
