The East Jackson track and field teams played host to Commerce, Riverside, Gainesville and East Hall last Thursday and the boys won the event while the girls placed second.
They will travel to Clayton Saturday for the Bo James Invitational. That’s followed by the girls’ county championships on Tuesday, March 29, at East Jackson and the boys’ county championships at Jefferson on Wednesday, March 30.
On Thursday, the Eagle men scored 92 points to beat out second place Riverside, third place Commerce and fourth place East Hall.
Meanwhile, the girls placed second, scoring 77 points to Gainesville’s 116. They were followed by Commerce in third and East Jackson fourth.

Alford, second, 300-meter hurdles (45.0), third, 100-meter hurdles (17.68); Zach Hembree, third, 800 meters (2:30); Wayne Johnson, third, triple jump (38’ 11”); Kude Roberts, fifth, (99’ 7”); Trent Dowdy, fifth, long jump (19’ 9.5”); Steve Barrow, fifth, triple jump (37’ 6.5”); and Ricky Hall, fifth, 400 meters (57.78).
Placers for the girls included Savanna Molina, first, discus (79’ 4”), fifth, shot put (25’ 5”); Brooklyn Watkins, first, pole vault (10’), second, 100-meter hurdles (17.99); Sherri Blalock, first, 3200 (13:33), second, 1600 meters (6:02); Amanda Murphy, first, 300-meter hurdles (53.0); Santana Davis, second, shot put (29’ .5”), third, discus (65’ 9”); Jessica Harper, second, high jump (4’ 8”); Courtney McDowell, second, 800 meters (2:54), third, 1600 meters (6:29); A. Melton, third, shot put (25’ 10.5”); Mariah Baird, third, long jump (13’ 1”), fourth, 100 meters (14.4); Bralee Griffin, third, pole vault (8’); Lauren Sanders, third, 100-meter hurdles (18.19), fourth, 300-meter hurdles (57.21); Malika Dubose, fourth, shot put (25’ 6.5”), fifth, discus (60’ 8”); and Harley Wilson, fifth, pole vault (5”).
East Jackson was scheduled to host Jackson County and Rabun County Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time.
