Commerce netters best Falcons

Things didn’t go well for either team. The boys fell 4-1, with their lone win coming at number one doubles with senior Jessie Savage and junior Chase Klugh, who won 8-2.

The girls, meanwhile, were swept by the Lady Indians, 5-0.

On Thursday, Commerce played host to Woody Gap. Things went decisively better on that day, as the boys swept the Falcons in a competition reduced to one singles and one doubles match.

Garrett Wilson won at number one singles 6-0, 6-2.

Savage and Klugh won at number one doubles 6-1, 6-1.

The girls also had a better outing, winning over the Lady Falcons 3-2 after Woody Gap had to forfeit both number three singles and number two doubles.

The Lady Tigers lost matches at number one and number two singles, but won at number one doubles with seniors Haiden Nunn and Sierra Martinez, 6-1, 6-1.

The win leaves both teams at 1-2 on the season.

Commerce was scheduled to travel to Tallulah Falls on Tuesday, but that match was rained out. A rescheduled date has not been announced.
