It was a mixed bag of results for the East Jackson track teams, as they traveled to Loganville Saturday to take part in the Running With The Devils meet. The girls placed 10th and the boys ninth.
Up next, East Jackson will host Jackson County and Rabun County next Tuesday, March 22, at 4:30 p.m.
At Loganville, the girls placed 10th out of 14 teams, scoring 26 points. Southwest DeKalb won the event. The girls trailed Loganville, Spalding, Eastside, Grayson, Clarke Central, Gainesville, Salem and Hart County, while besting Walnut Grove, South Gwinnett and Oglethorpe.
Meanwhile, the boys finished ninth out of 13 teams, scoring 33.5 points to overall winner Grayson’s 147. The boys trailed Southwest DeKalb, Eastside, South Gwinnett, Clarke Central, Loganville, Hart county and Towers, while beating out Salem, Oglethorpe, Walnut Grove and Gainesville.
Individually, for the girls, Brooklyn Watkins was first in the pole vault (9’ 10”) and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.35); Jessie Harper was second in the high jump (4’ 10”); Lauren Sanders placed third in the 100-meter hurdles (18.51); and Courtney McDowell placed seventh in the 3200-meter run (14”09.0).
For the boys, Nick Fulks was first in the discus (138’ 11”) and placed third in the shot put (44’ 3.5”); Ronnie Slizenski was fourth in the pole vault (10’ 6”); Cale Pirtle placed sixth in the 1600-meter run (4:53.23) and eighth in the 3200-meter event (11:10.9); Caleb Bailey finished seventh in the shot put (40’ 11”); and T C Collins placed sixth in the high jump (5’ 10”), seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (16.71) and seventh in the 300-meter hurdles (43.58).
