Raiders add win over Wolverines, fall to Duluth before region start

Next week, the Red Raiders face their first sub-region opponent, Apalachee, at home. Game time is set for 5:55 p.m. Apalachee was 3-3 overall entering into the current week. Also ahead is the other Barrow County sub-region opponent, Winder-Barrow March 23, on the road.

Against Prince Avenue, Madison County earned the win in Bogart, 9-2, with Brock Turner having a great game on the mound to earn his second win in the two-hitter game.
Turner went all the way into the seventh on a no-hitter before Prince Avenue scored two on a single and a double. Striking out 12 and walking one during the game, Turner also scored the Red Raiders’ first run of the game. See the print edition for more stats.

The weekend game against Duluth left the boys with their second loss of the season as the Wildcats swept the Red Raiders 8-0.

Matt Savage took the loss after three innings pitched allowing three runs, two earned with three hits and two walks. Savage fanned four batters. Aaron Benner stepped on pitching one and two-third innings effectively. Benner allowed no runs with only one hit and three strikeouts and a walk.

Duluth only earned four runs of the eight scored, off seven hits.
