The Mill Creek High School varsity baseball team has been named the region 7-AAAAA team of the year. Head coach Doug Jones was honored as coach of the year.
Mill Creek’s Johnny Knight was named co-player of the year along with North Forsyth’s Bones Dalken.
Several Mill Creek players were selected for region first team honors. Mill Creek’s Brandon Bast was one of five region pitchers named to the first team. Pitchers Chris Rowley (South Forsyth), David Randall (Peachtree Ridge), Tyler Roach (Norcross) and Wyatt Brown (North Gwinnett) were also selected. Norcross’ Forest Garrett was named pitcher of the year.
Mill Creek’s Noah Hanley will join Knight as a first team position player. Other first team honorees include North Gwinnett’s Peter Poole, Jim Morland and Ronnie Stewart. Travis Ragdale (Norcross), Curtis Parker (South Forsyth), Michael Adams (Collins Hill) and Dustin Cannon (Forsyth Central) round out the first team.
Second team players include Mill Creek pitchers Matt Grimes and Brian Holmes. Collins Hill pitcher Nick Squeglia was also honored. Position players on the second team are Jacob German of Mill Creek; Chad Ward, Will Gates and Zach Alvard from South Forsyth; Reid Merven and Luke Jordan of Duluth; Tommy Yeo and Grant Earls from Collins Hill and North Forsyth’s Tyler Slaton.
