THE JEFFERSON boys’ soccer team won a 1-0 overtime affair Friday on the road, outscoring Elbert County 4-3 in the penalty kick period to grab the subregion win.
“The guys played well but had a hard time getting the ball in the net,” coach Jason Marble said. “We only had 13 players instead of our usual 18 which meant we only had two subs. I believe this affected us some, but despite the circumstances, they rose to the occasion and played very well.”
After Jefferson converted its last penalty kick attempt, Dragon goalkeeper Robert Griffeth stopped Elbert County’s final attempt to seal the win.
Jefferson was slated to play Banks County Tuesday but the game was moved to today due to rain.
