FOLLOWING an 8-0 obliteration of Elbert County Friday, Jackson County won a much different type of ball game Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over cross-town rival Jefferson at home.
“We have been working really hard, and I’m glad that it came out in our favor,” coach Kim Myers said. “Our defense did a great job. (Rachel) Paskodid a great job of marking people up, and our offense had great ball work up top with everybody.”

Jackson County (2-2, 2-0) broke a scoreless tie with just under five minutes left as Katie Phillips found the back of the net for what would be the deciding score.
This was the fourth goal for Phillips in her last two games. Phillips shelled Elbert County with three goals in the Lady Panthers’ victory over the weekend.
The victory now gives the team a two-game winning streak and puts Jackson County at 2-0 in Region 8-AA South play.
“And hopefully 3-0 by Friday,” Myers said.
Jackson County takes on winless Hart County this Friday on the road as subregion action continues.
