Tigers Prepare For Redskins

The Commerce Tigers continued their early season success with a victory Friday over Riverside Military Academy.

The Tigers are in the midst of four away games this week, with their next game slated for Thursday at Social Circle at 5:30 p.m.

The Redskins come into the week off a Friday loss to George Walton Academy. They have gone 4-3 overall in the early season, and 0-1 in region play.

Riverside

Coming off a big season opening win over Jefferson, the Tigers were looking to continue their momentum. After their second game, also against Jefferson, was cancelled due to rain, Commerce played host Friday to Riverside Military Academy in their region opener.

Colton Davis set the tone for the game early, belting a grand slam in the first inning to begin a six-inning 12-2 trouncing of the Eagles.

Davis was also the winning pitcher, striking out nine and giving up just two hits in five innings.

Josh Swisstak went 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run and four RBIs. Cody Streetman, Ethan Thomas and Keenan Lord had two hits apiece.
