2-2 Eagles Face Pats

Last week was rough for the East Jackson soccer teams, as both the boys and girls fell to Apalachee.

Both teams find themselves 2-2, with region play set to open up this week.

East Jackson travel to Oglethorpe County Friday to face the Patriots and the Lady Patriots.

Oglethorpe’s boys have a 2-3 early season record (0-1 in the region), while the girls are 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the region.

The girls’ game is slated to being at 5 p.m., with the boys to follow at 7 p.m.

Against Apalachee, both teams suffered tough losses.

The girls came up on the short end of a 5-1 score.

The boys lost 6-0, and Luis Ponce was knocked unconscious while challenging for a header. He was transported to an area hospital with a concussion, but has been cleared to play this week.

“He’s doing fine,” said coach Chris Cooley.

Several defensive slips contributed to the loss to the more experience Apalachee team.
