JEFFERSON seeks to get back to the .500 mark today in both region play and overall as it plays nearby foe East Jackson today (Wednesday) at 5:55 p.m. on the road.
The Dragon baseball team then moves on to face Hart County at home Friday before a rivalry showdown with Jackson County Monday on the road.
The Dragons (2-3, 1-2) are coming off a narrow, 3-2 loss to North Oconee Tuesday on the road.
Jefferson led 2-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but the Titans trumped the Dragons with two scores that inning.
Andrew Bartek led Jefferson at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Drew Carson, who went 1-for-3, also drove in a run. Austin Thompson had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.
Jefferson’s pitching surrendered just four hits.
Jesse Tallent started, pitching four innings and surrendering four hits and one unearned run. He walked two and struck out two. North Oconee scored its final two runs off relievers Matt Bowen and Max Ford.
Two days earlier, Jefferson thumped visiting Oglethorpe County 7-0.
Drew Carson threw six shutout innings for the win, carving up the Patriot lineup with 11 strikeouts. Carson gave up just three hits and walked only one batter.
Jefferson jumped on Oglethorpe County early, with two scores in each of the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead. Jefferson scored an insurance run in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth.
Kevin Ross had a huge day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, as did Jason Demos, who belted a two-run homerun and went 2-for-3. Bartek, who was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, also had a multi-hit afternoon.
The Jefferson baseball team lost to Elbert County 7-2 Wednesday at home in the first subregion contest of the year. Jason Demos led the Dragons, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Jesse Tallent also went 2-for-3, while Drew Carson went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Elbert County led 3-2 after three innings but scored four unanswered runs over the next three innings to put the game away.
