The Jackson County boys’ golf team (2-0) broke the school scoring record in only its second match of the season.
The Panthers beat East Jackson 166-218 Wednesday at Double Oaks, bettering the old mark by three strokes. Thomas Whitley led Jackson County with a 39. Jared Scott (40), Kyle Daniel (43) and York Delloyd (44) rounded out the scoring. Colton Standridge (48) and River Bryant (49) also played.
Jackson County nearly broke the school record in its season opener, shooting a 170 against Commerce Feb. 24.
“I am very pleased to see us improving so fast,” coach Warren Standridge said. “We also have no seniors and that says a lot about how hard this group is working.”
