THE JACKSON County boys’ golf squad nearly made its first match of the season a historic one.
Led by freshman York Delloyd’s 38, the Panthers beat Commerce 170-222. Jackson County’s 170 was one stroke shy of the school record of 169.
“I am proud of our team and the work ethic they have shown early this season,” coach Warren Standridge said.
Jared Scott added a 42, while Thomas Whitley posted a 44.
The Panthers return to the course today (Wednesday) against another intra-county rival, East Jackson, at Double Oaks Golf Club.
Jackson County faces Apalachee the following day at the Georgia Club and Rabun County Monday at Kingwood.
