After defeating Eastside to open the season 13-8, WBHS traveled to face Lakeside-Evans Friday and recorded a 12-2 victory.

Austin Meyer worked a complete game and recorded seven strike outs while Travis Demeritte drove in four runs and connected for his third homer of the young season.

Dylan Ivey, Ryan Brown, Dalton Carter and Taylor Keinat also helped lead the offensive attack.

The following day, the Diamond Doggs fell for the first time this season against South Effingham 10-3. WBHS dropped a 5-2 game later in the day to Evans.

“We are going through a tough preseason schedule,” Smith said. “It’s all being done to prepare us for later down the road. We play in perhaps the toughest region in the state. We saw some quality pitching over the weekend and that will also help us later on.”
