It was a tie for 14th for the mat Leopards at last week’s traditional state tournament. with three placers Banks County earned 38 points, tie with Buford.
No surprise were in store as Jefferson secured an 11th consecutive state title, and the team’s third class AA state title, with 196.5 points. The mat Dragons edged out runner-up Sonoraville, with 177 points and third place finisher Toombs County at 84.5.
Other local AA team, Jackson County earned 11th with 63.5 points just ahead of North Oconee with 63.
Bringing home three state placers from the traditional tournament, Banks County now focuses on earning a high state finish at the state duals this weekend. The state duals were postponed due to inclement winter weather in January.
