It is the final step for the mat Leopards, as only one more weekend stands between eight wrestlers and a shot at qualifying for a chance to compete for a state title. This weekend, the Banks County varsity wrestlers send eight of their own to the AA sectionals in Dublin to see who will make the trip Feb. 17 to the Gwinnett Arena to compete for a state title.
After earning a very respectable third place overall at the Area 8-AA Tournament in Jefferson last weekend, Banks County had 11 wrestlers finish with top five accolades and eight of those advance to the sectionals this weekend.
With the level of skill and competitiveness present in the area, Banks County has proven to be a force this year after earning a runner-up position during the area team duals.
