The Apalachee High School Lady Wildcats held for a 55-52 road win Tuesday night handing Habersham Central only its third loss of the season.
"We played very hard considering we only practiced Monday," said coach Michael Parks. "We did not practice at all last week."
The Lady Cats led 26-19 at halftime and held a slim 32-31 margin going into the fourth quarter.
"We hit some big shots down the stretch and stepped up and made free throws," Parks said. "We had three girls foul out so everyone played and everyone played well."
Saboyce Shelton led the way with 20 points, including some key late free throws.
"It was a nice win for the girls considering the break and it being our first game since Winder-Barrow," Parks said.
Habersham Central was 13-2 going into the contest.
Aliya Ballard added 15 points for AHS.
The AHS boys battled Habersham Central but a 17-0 run by the Raiders in the final two minutes of the first half proved to be the difference in a 47-36 loss.
"We played pretty well other than that span," coach Kevin Morris said. "We lost our concentration during the end of the half and gave up some easy baskets."
Cameron Blakely paced the Wildcats with 14 points while Qua Cleveland added 10.
