Commerce At Athens Acad. Fri.

The winter weather kept the Commerce basketball teams off the court last week. They’ll return to action at Athens Academy Friday against the Spartans.

The Lady Tigers will be looking for their first win against the Lady Spartans since January of 2009. Athens Academy has won four straight since then, including a 60-36 victory back in December. Commerce is 3-7 overall and 1-2 in region play.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The boys will be looking for their third straight win and second straight region win since the first of the year. Commerce enters play at 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the region.

The Tigers won in the previous meeting of the two teams, 48-45, on Dec. 7. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

Last week’s icy weather postponed games against Tallulah Falls on Jan. 11, Prince Avenue on Jan. 14 and Social Circle on Jan. 15. There’s been no word on when the games would be rescheduled, but all are region matchups, meaning they’ll have to be made up.

Teams were unable to practice last week with school being out, but many were able to get some practice time in over the weekend and early this week.
