Eagles Brace For Dog Fight

After games with Jackson County and Jefferson were postponed due to the wintery weather last week, the East Jackson Eagles faced the Raiders of Habersham Central, coming away with their ninth loss of the season.

The Eagles will make up the game against Jackson County on Jan. 22. A rescheduled date for the Jefferson game has yet to be announced.

Up next is a home stand for the Eagles, as they host the Hart County Bulldogs Friday. In their only previous meeting, back in December, the Bulldogs slipped by with a close 75-72 win.

Hart County comes into the week undefeated in region play with a 4-0 record, and 8-5 overall. The Eagles are 5-9 overall, and 1-2 in region play.

Tipoff Friday night is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

Habersham County

After a losing a week’s worth of games to the weather, the East Jackson Eagles traveled north on Saturday to Habersham County to face the Raiders.

The game was close in the opening eight minutes, with the Raiders just barely outscoring East Jackson 12-10 to take the early lead.

Habersham outscored the Eagles 16-9 in the second period to go up 28-19 at the half and held a 39-28 advantage after three periods en route to a 61-38 win.

Tevin Dowdy led the Eagles in scoring with 10 points.
