After losing to Elbert County and beating Banks County last week, the East Jackson Eagles will face Jefferson Friday night at 8:30, weather permitting.
The Dragons are 7-7 overall, and 1-2 in region play, coming off a Saturday loss to Commerce.
The Eagles have never beaten the Dragons.
Elbert County
The Eagles opened up the 2011 part of their schedule against the Blue Devils of Elbert County, and it wasn’t a promising start.
They fell behind 30-7 after one quarter and were out of the game, 49-16, at the half en route to an 81-25 pasting.
Trent Dowdy led the Eagles with six points.
“Elbert was not a good night from the tip until the final buzzer,” said coach Brian Turner. “They jumped on us and never came off and we did not respond to the pressure or defend the basket the entire night.”
Banks County
East Jackson bounced back Friday night when they hosted the Banks County Leopards.
The Eagles jumped out to an early advantage, leading 15-8 after the first quarter. The Leopards cut the deficit to 22-18 at the half, but East Jackson enlarged its lead to 36-25 after three periods and outscored Banks County 16-13 over the final eight minutes for a 52-38 win.
