Tigers Host Prince Avenue Fri.

The Commerce Tigers christened their new gym with a pair of victories last week, beating Towns County and Jefferson.

The Tigers will host region foe Prince Avenue Christian on Friday, weather permitting.

The Tigers officially opened up their new gym by beating Towns County 56-47 Friday night.

Commerce took control early and held a 10-12 point lead through most of the game.

Brandon Romans led the Commerce offense with 19 points, including the first Tiger bucket in the new gym, which put Commerce up 2-0 with 6:47 left in the first quarter. Tyler Gamble added 18 and Chase Klugh scored eight.

“We didn’t play very well, so we made it a lot tougher than we had to,” said coach Chad Bridges. “I didn’t feel like we would get beat, but I wasn’t really satisfied with the way we were playing.”

Jefferson

The big win came Saturday against Jefferson and avenged a 79-64 loss to the Dragons back in December.

The Tigers started out strong, building a 14-point lead by the half. Jefferson cut that lead to just seven in the third quarter, but the Tigers pressed the Dragons and put the game out of reach over the final quarter, taking 67-46 victory.
