Tigers To Christen New Gym Jan. 7

With 2010 now behind them, the Commerce Tigers look ahead to the 2011 portion of their schedule.

The Tigers will enjoy a little downtime next, as they enter the New Year’s break. They will open the new Commerce High School gymnasium when they host Towns County on Friday, Jan. 7.

Tip off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

It will mark the start of the main thrust of the Tigers’ region schedule. The only non-region game slated between now and Feb. 11 is the Jan. 8 rematch between Commerce and Jefferson.

Hart Co.

Commerce closed out the 2010 portion of its season with a narrow defeat at the hands of host Hart County in last week’s McDonald’s Shootout tournament.

It was close, but in the end, the Bulldogs handed the Tigers their second straight loss, slipping away with a two-point lead at the end to win 72-70.

Bubba Bonds led Commerce in scoring with 24 points, followed by Brandon Romans with 20 and Tyler Gamble with 16.
