Mat Eagles In Region Duals Jan. 7

It was a rough week for the East Jackson Mat Eagles as they fell to Banks County, Gainesville and Loganville last week.

East Jackson will try to turn things around in the region duals coming up Jan. 7 and 8 at Jefferson, marking the start of the 2011 portion of the mat Eagles season.

Last Tuesday, the mat Eagles played host to Banks County and Gainesville. The Eagles fell to both schools in the home match. Individual results weren’t available at press time.

Up next was a trip to Loganville for tournament action. With several wrestlers out, East Jackson lost again.

“We are still forfeiting four weight classes and have several wrestlers sick,” said coach Randy Hill.

Despite the persistent illness, several Mat Eagles are still turning in strong performances. Garrett Lott is now 14-11 in the 103 lb. category. Victor Equiarte is 20-6 in the 135 lb. class, Drew Hunter is 13-6 in the 189 lb. category and Parker Wilson is 10-7 in the 285 lb. class.
