Lady Tigers Face Hart Co. Fri.

It will be the first game Commerce coach Eddie McCurley has coached in that gym since 1992, but this time he’ll be on the visitor’s side.

The tournament is scheduled to run through Tuesday.

Athens Academy

The Lady Tigers hosted Athens Academy last Tuesday and the Lady Spartans broke away immediately, outscoring Commerce 16-5 in the opening eight minutes of play. The Spartans extended their lead to 35-20 at the half and led 52-30 after three quarters en route to a 60-36 win.

Jaz Grier led Commerce with 14 points. Hannah Davis scored six, Vanessa Chandler and Jessika Kyle added four each, Drea Mathis and Lily Mather contributed three each and Erica Greene scored two.

Jefferson Romps

It was more of the same Friday night in Jefferson where the first eight minutes looked much like they did on Tuesday as Jefferson opened up a 19-6 lead. The Tigers got no relief in the second period, as Jefferson rolled to a 30-8 halftime lead. After three periods it was 40-11, and the Lady Dragons waltzed to a 54-19 win.

Grier led the Lady Tigers with 14 points. Allie Morgan and Davis scored two each, while Mathis scored one.
