Mat Tigers Host Flowery Branch, Elbert Co. Friday

The mat Tigers bested Riverside 54-9. Winners included Cody Legg, Nick Henderson, Drew Whitfield, Josh Westmoreland, Greyson Cochran, Holden Nunn, Thomas Sweeney, Chance McClure, Zach Harmon and Serguio Rojas.

Things didn’t go as well against Morgan County, as Commerce lost 39-35. Winners included Legg, Whitfield, Westmoreland, Tyler Reddish, McClure, Harmon and Rojas.

“I thought we wrestled pretty well,” said coach Kendall Love. “We have been hit with illness and injuries the last week. We had several guys out on Wednesday night as well as at Apalachee over the weekend.
There is no doubt we would have fared better if we had everyone. It’s like I told the guys though, I would much rather it happen now than a few weeks from now. If we get everyone healthy, I think we will be just fine.”

Up next was a trip to Apalachee for the Round Robin Duals, where the Tigers came home with third place behind Clarke Central and North Hall.

Placers in their respective weight classes included Cole Ledford, Chance McClure and Serguio Rojas, first place; Jacob Harrison, Cody Legg, Josh Westmoreland and Thomas Sweeney, second place; and Greyson Cochran and Zach Harmon, third place.
