The Jackson County Panthers were on the field Friday evening in a scrimmage game against Athens Christian preparing for their opening game this week.
The Panthers will open at home at 7:30 p.m., Friday, to Our Lady of Mercy a region 5 single A team.
The scrimmage game was a boost in morale for the Panthers, winning 14-6. The single A, Athens Christian team, kept the Jackson County boys on their toes and made them work for the win and play a hard defensive game.
According to JCCHS head coach Billy Kirk, the game was sloppy. Kirk said that the reason he said the game was sloppy was due to the high number of penalties and turnovers the Panthers had.

I see all of the other area schools, but where is Friday night's online JC write up? Is the Herald no longer covering the Panthers?

Not at all. The Jackson Herald is still covering Jackson County High School sports. Unfortunately, this past weekend there was a hiccup in feeding things to the website. I will make an effort to keep it from happening in the future. Thank you.
