The East Jackson girls cross country team closed out its season with a top-ten showing in the state meet at Carrollton on Saturday.
The girls placed seventh out of 26 teams, following only state champ Westminster, Blessed Trinity, Lovett, Jackson County, Buford and Bleckley County.
Sherri Blalock led the girls’ charge, turning in a 24th-place effort out of 184 runners with a time of 21:19. Other results included Courtney McDowell 37th (22:03), Skyler Cozzens 54th (22:54), Sheena McEachin 55th (22:55), McKenzie Parr (23:51), Amanda Anderson (24:08) and Caroline Flynn (24:50).
