THE JEFFERSON girls’ cross country team made its trip to Carrollton a worthwhile one
The Lady Dragons finished as one of Class AA’s top 10 programs, placing eighth at state with 232.
Region 8-AA rival East Jackson edged out Jefferson by a point for seventh place.
Reese Bowles led Jefferson again with a 27th-place finish, running a 21:27. Following Bowles were Alison Missler (32nd, 21:54), Cara Smith (44th, 22:27), Kathy Buffington (65th, 23:13) and Laura Price (75th, 23:53).
Though Jefferson had just one member of its boys’ team representing the program at state, the Dragons’ lone runner had a huge day.
Freshman Kyle Kashuba, who qualified individually for state by finishing sixth at region, ran a 17:29 to place 14th in the state.
