Senior night ahead for MCHS

“They are going to be loaded for bear,” head coach Randell Owens said. “Heritage is playing for a spot in the playoffs and there are a couple of scenarios where they can make it, but the easiest for them would just be to beat us and move on. It is going to be a hard fought game. We have to play Heritage with our absolute A game. Our goal is to finish strong.”

Heritage (6-3, 6-3) is in a three-way tie for the third seed in 8-AAAA with Apalachee and Loganville. If the Patriots get the win over Madison County (1-8, 1-8) it will put Heritage in a strong position for nothing less than the fourth seed.

If Madison County pulls out the upset, and Loganville defeats Apalachee, Heritage will be out of a playoff berth.

Friday night, Owens is expecting to see a team that is a lot like what the Red Raiders saw against Habersham Central with a strong defense and tough kicking team.

“Heritage has a tough fullback and a quick, agile quarterback,” Owens said. “They like to work ball control and get on it. We have our hands full, but we will come out and give it our best.”

The Red Raiders’ win record may not show it, but the team has put up a tough fight every week during the 2010 campaign.
