WBHS hosts NE Georgia Invitational

Concerning her own team’s performance, Hulsey said “there were some really outstanding moments as well as some disappointments.”

“I know that if we hit this routine we will be in the hunt for a state championship,” the coach said. “ It was discouraging that the stunts that came down are stunt groups that have been working together since June. I had to replace a young man who had mono with another young man named Nick Oxley. Nick did a fantastic job Saturday. He had one week to learn this routine. He has added a tremendous amount of tumbling.”

Hulsey said her team’s standing and running tumbling were strong.

“I also thought we did a really good job on the dance, which was new this week,” she said. “I thought our presentation was good. We have to improve our stunts. They cannot come down. Our formations were off. You could tell we had not competed in three weeks (due to the illness of one of my guys). The team is ready for this weekend. They know they have to nail this routine. Our plan is to take it section by section and hit it three times in a row.”

WBHS is now preparing for postseason competitions.
