This season has shown that Banks County has the attitude to play football.
Last Friday night in Homer, the Banks County Leopards lost a close game to Fannin County, 13-12, that bumped the Leopards from the top spot in 8A-AA.
It was plain to see after the game that the players took the loss hard, but what was really interesting was the fact that as upset as the players were, they still walked off the field with their shoulders squared and without a look of utter-defeat on their faces.
That is a winning attitude even in the face of defeat.
Coach Armstrong has made it a point since he came to Banks County to turn the basic attitude of the program around, not only to start winning, but also in how to handle defeat.
It is not just confidence from winning, but the overall attitude of how the team is going to play for each other.
Last Friday night all the proof anyone need that this wasn’t the same team attitude from past seasons was on the field.
On the final drive, Dean Ewing took a hit out of bounds that would have left a lot of people still laying out there. The first thing he said after jumping back to his feet was that his team needed him and he was back on the field.
That is just one example of the kind of attitude Banks County hasn’t had in the past.
All to often in the past, the lack of a winning attitude would lead Banks County to breaking down after a loss, and fall into a spiral of defeat. Not anymore.
Banks County has already shown that the players can bounce back.
The Athens Christian game after the loss to East Jackson was a prime example and this week’s game with East Hall will be another example of how far Banks County has come.
It’s all about attitude and the players have it.

Coach Armstrong has worked very hard to teach and develop a 'winning attitude'. I hope the student body and the fans can keep it rolling. This will spread to the entire campus if the parents and fans will learn from the kids. Pride with a purpose and reason will go a long way. For example, even the band can grow with this winning attitude - take a look at how Fannin Co. and East Hall players and fans supported their bands. THis will be a great atmosphere at BCHS for years to come if the 'Attitude' continues to develop.
Dean Ewing - you showed alot of heart, days past I know you would have gotten ticked off and hurt your team. I'm really happy to see you develop not just as a player but as a young man. I hope this week is a good game for you and I look to see you on the baseball diamond this spring!
GOOD JOB COACH ARMSTRONG. COACHING STAFF, and PLAYERS. everyone is proud of what you have already accomplished!!!
