The East Jackson cross country teams came away with a pair of wins last Wednesday, as they defeated Jackson County in a dual meet at Lamar Murphy Park.

Up next is a home stand for East Jackson, as they’ll host the East Jackson Open meet on Oct. 19.

Both teams turned in strong performances against Jackson County.

For the boys, it was a 21-38 victory. Cale Pirtle showed the way, setting a course record time of 18:44 on the new Lamar Murphy Park course. Stuart Robinett was third (19:46), Edward Stone was fourth (20:04), followed by Cory McClung in sixth (20:04) and Tyler Cone in seventh (20:36).

Other runners included Vladik Staples (21:13), Quenton Rice (21:40), Jake Thaxton (21:52), Adrian Woodruff (22:04), Mike Adair (22:58), Jordan Presley (23:16), Kyle Wood (23:28), Dylan Anderson (23:30), Stephen Bramlett (23:30), Sam Derochers (32:13) and Rhett Vanderford (33:00).

For the girls, their 27-31 win was the first over Jackson County this season. Sherri Blalock set the course record time of 21:18 to lead the girls to the win. Courtney McDowell placed fifth, followed by Sheena McEachin in sixth (23:06, personal best). Amanda Anderson placed seventh while Skyler Cozzens finished eighth.

Other runners included McKenzie Parr (24:28), Caroline Flynn (26:44), Cora McDowell (28:01), Raeanne Waters (28:35 personal best), Corbin Williams (31:19) and Elizabeth Allred (31:21).
