Brittany Aikens won yet another race and the Jackson County girls won yet another meet Tuesday.
Aikens captured the eighth-annual MainStreet Newspapers Invitational at Crow’s Lake, winning the girls race with a 20:57.
Jackson County finished with 57 points, 19 points ahead of second-place North Oconee (76). Rachel Pasko added a third-place finish (21:51) and Sydney Baird was eighth (22:49).
Meet host Jefferson finished third (80 points) in the girls’ competition, led by Cara Smith’s 22:50. She finished eighth overall. Reece Bowles added a top 10 finish with a 23:05.
East Jackson finished just behind Jefferson. Sherri Blalock placed second overall with a 21:04.
Courtney McDowell (24:06) and Amanda Anderson (24:23) finished 18th and 19th respectively.
In the boys’ competition, Cale Pirtle led East Jackson to a fourth-place team finish by running an 18:14, placing third overall.
Jefferson finished fifth, led by freshman Kyle Kashuba who ran a 18:30 and placed fifth individually.
Trae Timmerman also broke 20 mintues, running a 19:53 (20th place).
Freshman J.T. Wood led Jackson County with a 19:33, good for 16th overall.
The MainStreet meet featured nine Region 8-AA schools and served as a tune-up for the Oct. 28 and Oct. 30 region meets, which will also be run at Crow’s Lake.
