WBHS teams shine at home meet

The Winder-Barrow High School cross country teams turned in strong performances in their home meet recently.

A total of 19 teams from across the Northeast Georgia area attened the WBHS Invitational Saturday with the event at the Bulldoggs and Lady Bulldoggs’ home course at Bramlett Elementary School.

The WBHS boys were first with Skyler Lowe winning taking individual honors, running the 3.1 mile course in 16:56. Lowe was followed by Chris Cope, Shane Davis, Alex Martinez, Chris Lee, Kolby Estes and William Wright. Martinez, Lee, Estes and Wright all had personal best times at the meet.

The Lady Bulldoggs placed second overall behind Class AAAAA school Parkview. Amanda Amanda Cope ran an amazing 19:27, coach Michael Lofton said. She was followed by Anna Dean, Caitlyn Connell, Whitley Kennedy, Nicole Webb, Hannah Bartz, and Kristen Debrock.

“We also had some girls run their personal best at this race,” Lofton said.

The Distance Doggs will run at the Nike Coach Wood Invitational next weekend in Gainesville.
