Lady Eagles Enter Post Season

“We’ve got a chance to win a few matches in the area tournament, which would be a great bookend to our season,” said coach Tim Thomas. “We’ve never had a postseason win.”

East Jackson began last week against Athens Christian and Rabun County.

Athens Christian came away with a 2-0 win, with set scores of 20-25 and 24-26.

Rabun County also came away the victor, winning 2-0 with set scores of 20-25 and 21-25.

Kiersten Meehan had seven kills on the night, while Rebekah Poponi had eight. Rosie Melendez had four aces and two kills, Jill Edmondson had six assists and 12 digs, Haley Simmons had six kills and Jenna Dukes had 18 digs and went 18 of 19 while serving.

“We’ve lived and died by the serve all season, and Tuesday night we died by it,” said Thomas. “Jenna was the only one who served well. She put 18 of 19 in and over. No one else was even close to that.”

For the Lady Eagles final two matches of the regular season, they paired off against Hebron Christian Academy and Jefferson.

Hebron came away with the 2-0 win, with set scores of 13-25 and 18-25.

Jefferson also picked up a victory, winning 2-0, with set scores of 11-25 and 17-25.
