It was a day of season best times for the Banks County cross-country team on Tuesday. The Leopards were at Stephens County and brought home a first place finish for the boys and a second place finish for the girls against the Indians of Stephens and the Raiders from Habersham Central.
Banks County’s boys team remains undefeated this season and each member ran a season best time. Jake Schaeffer also set a personal best (19:04) running as the team’s third man.
Ivan Diaz led the field and Leopards with a first place 18:02 run. Banks County’s number two runner, Trey Martin, kept Diaz in sight and crossed the line for second place at 18:48. Schaeffer took fourth place overall with a 19:04 finish. Tuan Pham was right on Schaeffer’s heels for fifth place at 19:17, just a breath ahead of Francisco Hurtado in sixth place and a 19:18 run.
Also setting season best times, the Lady Leopards were led by Maggie McCoy in a 24:53 finish. Kara Murphy followed at 25:28, with Bridget Marlow running a 26:05 race. Separated by just five seconds, Marisa Lewis and Rachel Guthrie crossed the line for the Lady Leopards with Lewis at 31:00 and Guthrie 31:05.
