This time, the Winder-Barrow High School competition cheerleaders were in top form.
The Cheer Doggs, coached by Jerri Hulsey, won the competition at East Jackson High School in Commerce Saturday edging Dacula High School by five points.
“We had a much better performance this week,” Hulsey said. “Parts of the routine were really good. We cleaned it up. All the ‘libs’ hit which was a goal we had set for this week. We added a ‘full’ in our running tumbling. We did have some issues in timing and our ending pyramid gave us problems again this week.”
Next up for the Cheer Doggs will be a competition at Dacula Saturday, which will feature four co-ed teams.
“The athletes are very excited about this weekend,” Hulsey said. “The team needs to continue to be sharper and we need to clean up our elite stunt and make sure the ending pyramid will hit. I was very proud of the teams performance this past weekend, however.”
It will be a full day of competition Saturday at Dacula as varsity, junior varsity and middle school teams will take part.
Following Saturday’s competition, the Cheer Doggs will be in action Oct. 16 against Peachtree Ridge and Oct. 23 against Loganville High School.
Hulsey and her team members are also looking forward to the Oct. 30 home meet which will feature a full day of competition cheerleading with numerous schools taking part.
