Jefferson’s 30-win volleyball team, which is now 11-0 in subregion, plays its final home matches tomorrow (Thursday), starting at 5 p.m.
The volley Dragons, who set a school record for victories this season, will face Hebron Christian Academy and East Jackson.
The team will also host Jefferson Elementary and Academy Night Thursday. Each child grades K-5 will receive one ticket (normally $5) for free admission to these games.
The Area 8-AA/A tournament follows next week, running from Oct. 5 to Oct. 9. Jefferson, which won the Area 8-AA/A North sub-area, has a first-round bye.
Jefferson (30-7) is coming off a 6-1 showing in the Ampest Volleyball Tournament in Conyers over the weekend.
The Dragons downed Eagles Landing (25-11, 25-15) and Cedar Shoals (25-15, 25-20) to start pool play and then beat Class AAAA’s no. 10 team, Ola (19-25, 25-20, 27-25).
Jefferson finished pool play with another victory over Eagles Landing (25-17, 25-22).
Emerging from pool play with a no. 1 seed, Jefferson beat North Atlanta (25-14, 25-9) to advance to the Super 6 against Woodland and won a tight match (25-21, 25-23).
The Dragons then fell to eventual Super 6 runner-up Rockdale County (25-19, 25-9) to end the tournament.
Statistical leaders for the seven matches were Cassie Metcalf (30 aces, 19 kills), Amanda Daniel (12 aces, 26 kills, 79 assists, two blocks), Taylor Cramsey (21 aces, 52 kills, four assists, seven blocks), Eden Starnes (11 aces, 23 kills, one assist), Sarah Wood (five aces, 12 kills, 15 assists, one block), Savannah Bogue (one ace), Savanna Holland (eight kills, four assists, one block), Brianna Patterson (10 aces), Amanda Burgamy (one ace), Gianna Fuller (one kill), Chelsea Runkel (one assist).
