Roswell, Jackson County fall to Lady Hawks

They call it the mercy rule for a reason.

After giving up 12 unanswered runs, the Roswell Lady Hornets were probably glad to get off the field after just five innings on Wednesday night.

Mill Creek scored early in the first when Amberlie Saxton hit a home run deep over the center field fence. The homer sent Alex Rogers across the plate and gave Mill Creek a 2-0 lead. Before the inning ended, the Lady Hawks had scored again as Lauren Stimis batted in Hannah Graham.

Mill Creek’s three runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth were just a warm up for the fifth. The Lady Hawks added five more runs in what would be the final inning as they rotated through their entire batting lineup on the way to the 12-0 victory.

Thursday, the mercy rule was invoked again as the Lady Hawks shut out Jackson County 10-0 in another five inning game.

Mill Creek's next game will be tonight against Houston County. First pitch is schedule for 4 p.m. in Hoschton.
