The Jefferson boys’ cross country team finished sixth out of 24 teams at Saturday’s Eagle Run and ran the second fastest of any team out of Region 8-AA.
Led by Trae Timmerman’s 19:18.12 and followed very closely by Kyle Kashuba’s 19:18.36, Jefferson ran an aggregate 1:36:26 and finished with an average below 20 minutes (19:41).
This was the Dragons’ fourth meet of the season.
Only Dawson County had a better showing among Region 8-AA teams Saturday as the Tigers finished second with an average time of 18:55.
Individually, Timmerman placed 23rd and Kashua finished less than a second behind at 24th.
Following them and also breaking the 20-minute mark were Jake Sherman (19:35, 36th) and Ash Warnock (19:58, 52nd). Rounding out the scoring for the Dragons was Alec Jameson (20:15, 68th).
Coach Allen Thompson called it a productive day.
“This is why we run competitive races like the Eagle Run,” he said. “We still have a lot of work to do before Region 8-AA. (East Jackson) coach Bob Roller did a nice job running a fast meet and this was a good test for us today.”
Jefferson returns to action Oct. 2 for a large meet at Oglethorpe County.
