This past week featured strong outings for the East Jackson cross-country teams at both West Hall and at home, where the Lady Eagles recorded a fourth place effort in the Eagle Run on Saturday.
Both the boys and girls teams will travel to Conyers Saturday for the Patriot Invitational.
The Cross Country Eagles started off last week with a trip to Oakwood for the West Hall Invitational on Sept. 14.
The boys finished 10th out of 20 teams.
Cale Pirtle led the way, placing 15th out of 131 runners. Edward Stone placed 60th, Stuart Robinett 64th, Tyler Cone 80th, Michael Adair 96th, Cory McClung 97th and Kyle Wood 108th.
The girls placed seventh out of 15 teams.
Sherri Blalock led the effort with a sixth place finish out of 105 runners. Amanda Anderson placed 21st, Courtney McDowell 29th, Skyler Cozzens 56th, McKenzie Parr 64th and Courtney Clark 69th.
Next up was the Eagle Run at EJCHS.
The girls placed fourth out of 22 full or partial teams.
Sherri Blalock placed seventh out of 122 runners to lead the team.
Courtney McDowell finished 14th, running a personal best 22:30. Skyler Cozzens placed 29th with a season-best 23:43. Sheena McEachin placed 33rd with a personal best of 23:51. Amanda Anderson placed 36th and McKenzie Parr finished 44th, tying her personal best with a 24:14.
“The girls continue to improve and are starting to push each other and want to run faster,” coach Bob Roller said. “You can see it in practice and hear how talk to each other about how to get better.”
Meanwhile, the boys placed 11th out of 24 teams.
Individually, Cale Pirtle placed 25th out of 167 runners. Edward Stone placed 30th with a personal best time of 19:27. Stuart Robinett followed with a 31st-place finish.
Other placers included Tyler Cone 99th, Mike Adair 118th, Cory McClung 130th and Kyle Wood 142nd.
