George Elliott Memorial Slated For GMP

As a brand new facility, just about everything that happens at Gresham Motorsports Park establishes a new tradition.

This Saturday’s inaugural George Elliott Memorial 100 presented By Monolith Companies is sure to be one of them.

The six-division stock car racing – in honor of Dawsonville, GA racing great George Elliott - will feature a 100-lap Super Late Model clash as well as main events in the Outlaw Late Model, Renegade Street Stock, Mini Stock, Truck and Mini Cup divisions.

The last time the Super Late Model cars appeared at GMP, Augie Grill bested Bubba Pollard, Ryan Blaney, Jeff Fultz and Jimmy Weller on July 17.

Grill has captured two of the three SLM events at GMP this season, the other win coming from Hoschton’s Jimmy Garmon in on June 19.

Meanwhile, GMP division point’s leaders Jason Bates (Outlaws), Spanky Hicks (Mini Stocks), Doug Sexton (Renegades) and Brittany Finley (Trucks) will try to keep their season championship on track against a host of speedy challengers this Saturday night.

A large pre-race show - including a Georgia Racing Hall Of Fame and GMP all-division driver’s autograph session - is set for 6 p.m. Georgia Racing Hall of Fame members Tommie Irvin, Leon Sells, Charlie Mincey, Ronnie Sanders, Jack Jackson and Bud Lundsford, along with family members of Gober Sosebee, Jack Smith, Weyman Milam and Ed Samples are among those expected to attend.
