Raider volleyball coach Kollette Clark hopes team chemistry will take her squad a long way this year, perhaps to a much sought-after trip to the state tournament.
One of the keys to this year, the second-year coach said, is that the nucleus of this team paid its dues on the junior varsity circuit last year.
“We intentionally kept them together as a group,” said Clark, whose team starts its regular season schedule today at Chestatee. “They’ve already played together and clicked.”
The group Clark speaks of only lost three or four times last year in junior varsity, according to the coach. Now, with its skill honed for the varsity level, the team’s strengths are its hitting and mental toughness according to Clark.
As far as worrying about question marks for this season, Clark said she’s only concerned about the things her team can control.
“Our mantra has been we can control three things, our hustle, our communication and our attitude.”
