Madison County’s Red Raider softball team is now the number three team in the region as the girls took one on the chin Tuesday night as the Habersham Central Raiders came to town and upset the balance.
Habersham only got five hits off starting pitcher Sarah Smith, who pitched a five-inning no hitter, shutout over Salem last week. This week, Habersham came away with a 4-0 win to take the number two spot away from Madison County.
Coming up today, Thursday, the Red Raiders visit Rockdale County for what head coach Doug Kesler calls another big region game.
“Rockdale beat Loganville, who beat us early on.” Kesler said. “They are capable of beating us if we don’t play well. We have to be ready to play. Madison County is a great group of kids, but we are not so good that we can take a day off. We are not worried so much about the opponent, but how we perform and that everyone does their role.”

That is some serious looking effort this player is making to get the ball to first base. You go Ms Smith!!!
