Volleyball: Jackson County grabs two victories in weekend play date

JACKSON COUNTY’S volleyball team moved to 7-10 with a pair of victories in a Saturday play date at East Hall and will face rival Jefferson again Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Panthers beat host East Hall (25-13, 17-25, 25-23) and Habersham Central (17-25, 26-24, 25-22) over the weekend while losing to Johnson-Gainesville, Apalachee, Eastside and rival East Jackson.

Jackson County went into the match having lost to Jefferson 25-11, 25-22 this past Thursday (Sept. 9).

“For the first match against Jefferson, we were not getting down and transitioning to defense, yet by the second we were playing well,” coach Crystal Colley said. “My girls waited too late to start playing.”

Breanna Chapman and Naly Thao led Jackson County digs with six each.

After Thursday’s rematch with Jefferson, the Panthers will play East Jackson and East Hall at home Monday.
